In security sensitive situations, we may ask of you to provide us with a photo of yourself holding a piece of paper with the date you take the photo hand-written on it.

The requirement to provide this photo is one of several security measures we take in complex security situations to make sure we are communicating with the account owner rather than an impostor. We understand that this may be inconvenient, but we do this to ensure that we provide the best level of security for your account.

In the photo, we need to see you, the Payoneer account owner, holding a piece of paper with the date you take the photo hand-written on it. It is important that you do not print the date on a piece of paper using a printer, but rather that you handwrite it with a pencil or a pen in your handwriting, so that we can rule out computerized editing. In most cases, we will request that you upload this document directly to Verification Center in your Payoneer account. In certain situations where your account cannot be accessed, we will request to provide the photo via email. It is recommended that you check the email you receive from us for the exact instructions of how you should provide the photo.

Payoneer uses the AWS Rekognition Image Facial Comparison to measure the likelihood that faces in two images are of the same person. AWS Rekognition processes your biometric data to uniquely identify you as a natural person by using your uploaded photo to carry out specific technical processing for the purposes of facial recognition and identification.

Visual identity verification also involves automated decision-making by verifying your identity by technological means without human involvement. As soon as the identity verification procedure has been completed, there shall be no further processing of your uploaded photo, and your biometric data will be securely deleted by AWS Rekognition.

Your Visual Identity Verification review will take up to 3 business days.

Please note that if you choose to opt out of the Visual Identity Verification procedure, review times will be extended.

You have an option to opt out of uploading a photo of myself (selfie) with today’s date and choose an alternative procedure.

If you prefer not to provide your visual identity information using the AWS Rekognition identity verification tool, you’ll need to do so via Payoneer Customer Support.

Note that choosing this option may delay your identity approval by up to 5 business days, as it will require your documents to go through manual review.
