Xero - FAQ
Syncing with Xero lets you easily reconcile your Payoneer transactions in Xero. Once you connect your Payoneer balances to your Xero bank accounts, you’ll be able to see transactions from your Payoneer account within your Xero environment.
Note: You need a Xero Premium (called Established in the US) account to be able to sync transactions in all your balances to Xero. If you don’t have a Premium account, you’ll only be able to sync one currency.
When you connect your Xero account to Payoneer, you give Payoneer permission to send transaction information to your Xero account. For each Payoneer balance you connect to a Xero bank account, a bank feed is created in Xero. The first sync will pull in all transactions from the starting date you choose until the connection date, and from that point syncing will take place every day.
You can connect any Payoneer balance in your account, as long as you have (or can create) a bank account with the matching currency in Xero. During the connection process in Payoneer, you’ll be able to create a Xero bank account that matches the currency of the Payoneer balance you want to connect.
When syncing transaction information from your Payoneer balances to connected Xero bank accounts, the following details will be sent:
Transaction ID
Transaction date
Transaction amount
Transaction type (debit/credit)
Description/reference information
Payoneer has no access to personal, financial, or transaction data from your Xero account. We only require basic account information such as the type of account plan you have (Premium (called Established in the US) or other), the organizations available to connect to, and the bank accounts available for connection. We also require permissions to connect to your Xero account to enable the integration.
Payoneer requires that you have at least one organization that is accessible, and that the user of the Xero account we connect to has necessary permissions to enable creating bank feeds. We also recommend that you have a Premium (called Established in the US) Xero account, otherwise you won’t be able to connect more than one Payoneer balance for syncing.
Xero bank accounts can be set up beforehand if you’d like, but you can also create them during setup in Payoneer.
Follow these simple steps to get your integration with Xero up and running:
Sign in to Payoneer, then go to Manage, then click Connect apps under the Business integration section.
Click the Xero app connection.
On the Xero app connection page, click Connect.
Log in to Xero, and on the Xero authorization page select the organization within your Xero account to connect to Payoneer.
Click Allow access. This allows Payoneer to connect to your Xero account.
On the next page, confirm the company name of your Xero organization to return to Payoneer.
You can now connect your Payoneer balances to Xero bank accounts. Syncing will start once a balance is connected. Remember, only Premium (called Established in the US) Xero accounts allow connecting more than one balance.
To connect a specific Payoneer balance:
On the Xero app connection page, click Connect on the balance you want to connect.
Select the Xero bank account to connect to. You can connect to an existing Xero bank account by selecting it from the dropdown list or create a new bank account in Xero with a name you provide.
Enter the date to sync transactions from, up to one year from the current day.
Click Connect.
Repeat the above steps for all the balances you would like to connect to Xero bank accounts.
Once you are done, you’ll have a new bank feed in Xero for each of the balances you connected, and your transactions begin syncing automatically every day. The first sync will pull in all transactions since the starting date defined by you.
Xero bank accounts that you create while setting up a connection to a Payoneer balance will appear in Xero a few minutes after you connect them in Payoneer.
The first sync will pull in all transactions starting from the date you chose to sync from, and thereafter once per day.
Syncing takes place every day, starting from when you connect the balance to Xero.
Note that only Payoneer transactions with a Completed status are synced. Transactions with Pending or Canceled status will not be synced to Xero.
If you notice that your Completed transactions aren’t syncing, please contact us.
Transactions can be synced from up to one year before the date you connect to Xero.
Transactions that took place before the earliest syncing date can either be manually entered or uploaded using a CSV file. You can read more about this in the Xero help article.
If you’d like to disconnect a specific balance from Xero and stop syncing for that balance, follow these steps:
Go to Manage, then click Connect apps under the Business integrations section.
Click on the Xero app connection.
Locate the balance you want to disconnect, click Disconnect, and confirm the action.
To change the Xero bank account your balance is connected to, you must first disconnect the balance from the current Xero bank account, then reconnect it to a different Xero bank account.
If you’d like to disconnect Payoneer from Xero completely (remove the connection to the Xero organization to which you initially connected), follow these steps:
